Unstable weather was forecast for the UAE from yesterday evening, with adverse conditions set to continue until at least tomorrow, the National Centre of Meteorology said.
Rain, thunder, lightning and hail have been forecast in parts of the Emirates today, with heavy rainfall already reported in the Northern Emirates.
Wind speeds of up to 70kmph are expected today, the NCM said, with motorists advised to ‘avoid driving unless absolutely necessary’ during rain. And all government schools in the country will adopt distance learning measures today and tomorrow, the Emirates School Education Foundation said yesterday.
Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum also announced that all Dubai government bodies and private schools would be operating remotely today.
“Due to upcoming weather conditions, we have instruct- ed all Dubai government entities and private schools to work remotely on Tuesday, April 16,” Shaikh Hamdan stated on X.
The emirate’s education organisation, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, also confirmed shortly after Shaikh Hamdan’s announcement that all Dubai private schools, nurseries and universities would provide distance learning today.
The Sharjah government also announced that distance learning would take place in schools and universities in the emirate today and tomorrow.
