THREE men have been sentenced to 10 days in prison each for illegally selling shrimp during the seasonal ban on shrimping.
The two Bangladeshis and one Pakistani will be deported after finishing their time behind bars.
According to the Public Prosecution, the Coastguard had reported the three defendants after spotting them in Isa Town selling the shrimp. Authorities managed to arrest two, while one is said to have run away.
All seafarers were urged to adhere to laws and stop practices that threaten the country’s fish stocks highlighting the importance of adhering to seasonal fishing bans.
