CYCLING – Bahraini cyclists Ahmed Madan and Ahmed Hasan will be representing the kingdom in the 43rd Asian Road Cycling Championships.
The competition is scheduled to get underway today in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Action begins with Madan taking part in the men’s elite individual time trial. The event will feature a 40-kilometre distance, and Madan is one of 19 participants vying for a medal, representing 18 countries.
Madan is one of the kingdom’s leading cyclists. In 2022, he won the under-23 individual time trial title at the Asian Road and Para Cycling Championships in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The other riders in today’s competition are from Macau China, the Philippines, Afghanistan, India, Iran, South Korea, UAE, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong China, Mongolia, Japan, and hosts Kazakhstan, who have two competitors.
The kingdom’s delegation at the event is headed by coach Axel Costa Soria and it includes bicycle technician Issa Ayoub.
The meet in Almaty also features action in the 30th Asian Junior Road Cycling Championships and the 12th Asian Para-cycling Road Championships.
