VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain is ready to host any top volleyball competition at the regional, continental, or international level.
This was declared last night by Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) secretary general Feras Al Helwachi, who was speaking to the GDN after receiving an official report giving the kingdom full marks for its hosting of the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Men.
“We are ready to host any championship in Bahrain for the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) or the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB),” Al Helwachi told the GDN.
“We have a great team here with good experience. We have hosted many competitions in the past at all levels, and each time we do, we build our knowledge and skills.
“We are ready and happy to host any event at a high level.”
Al Helwachi received the report from the AVC Challenge Cup for Men’s control committee chairman Emile Jabbour, a respected volleyball official from Lebanon, in the presence of officials from the AVC.
Bahrain had also received full marks in official tournament reports from previous competitions in past years, most recently the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, organised in 2023 by the BVA.
The 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Men is just the first of two top volleyball events being hosted by the kingdom this year. Bahrain will also be staging the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship from July 28 to August 4, which is set to feature 16 youth national squads.
