The strange combination first got attention last month, gaining publication throughout Asia, claiming it to be one of the most surprising drink combinations ever made.
In order to make this ‘tasty’ green onion latte, the process is fairly simple. All you need to do is smash up a few green onions into your cup and then add some ice, milk and coffee. Sprinkle it off with a generous amount of chopped green onions and voila!

Although it is unclear who, how or when exactly the spring onion latte was first created, it has, however, gone viral recently, with more and more coffee shops offering this peculiar brew.
It has even been added to China’s ‘dark cuisine’ known as ‘hei an liao li,’ a list of famous bizarre food and drink combinations, that put people’s sensibilities to the test.
Previously featured was the renowned chilli-infused ‘hot ice latte’ a few months back.
However, the reactions to this new spring onion latte have been more intense. Some customers confessed they never imagined having to one day ask for an ‘onion-free coffee.’ Others admitted to being intrigued by the strange yet unique concoction, yet worried about bad breath.
