FOOTBALL – Bahrain's junior and youth football national teams have been drawn in tough groups for their respective continental qualifying competitions set to be played later this year.
The juniors are one of 45 teams participating in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers, and they are set to play in Group B along with Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Nepal and group hosts Chinese Taipei. Their qualifiers are scheduled to be held from September 21 to 29.
Meanwhile, the Bahraini youth are one of 43 squads set to play in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers. They are in Group C along with South Korea, Bhutan, the Maldives and group hosts China. Their qualification campaign is scheduled to be held between October 19 and 27.
Both of Bahrain’s junior and youth national teams have begun their preparations for their upcoming qualifying bids with local training gatherings.
The under-20 qualification event features a total of 10 groups. Matches in each will be held at a central location. At the end of a single round-robin, the 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will book a ticket alongside hosts China to the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025, to be held from February 6 to 23 next year.
The under-17 qualifiers also feature 10 groups, each played at a different host country. At the end of a single round, the group winners and five best second-placers will earn a place in the tournament proper, along with host nation Saudi Arabia.
The AFC U17 Asian Cup will take place from April 3 to 20 in 2025.
