Zainab Al Sayed Ali Abbas Al Alawi, a student of Al Ahad Al Zaher Secondary Girls School, is winning hearts in Bahrain with a moving gesture for her father at her graduation ceremony.
Zainab took the initiative to share the joy with her hearing impaired father by translating the entire graduation ceremony for the academic year 2023/2024 into sign language.
When Zainab saw her father smiling and interacting, she expressed her immense joy. She said that her late mother had taught her sign language at a young age, enabling her to communicate with her father easily. Over time, she became proficient in sign language and volunteered in numerous hearing impaired-related programmes and institutions. She also helped teach sign language to colleagues and family members interested in learning the language.
The school principal, Ms Nour Al Subaie, commended Zainab for her initiative, which not only made her father happy but also added more beauty to the ceremony. The graduates and the parents applauded Zainab's teacher, Ms Noha Abdel Reda, for encouraging her to take this initiative, and showed love in response to what she did on stage.
