King Hamad American Mission Hospital (KHAMH) in A’ali has been accredited with the prestigious ‘Diamond Status’ and named a ‘Centre of Excellence for Infection Prevention and Control’ by the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
“As the fifth and largest branch of the American Mission Hospital, KHAMH’s achievement of the highest level is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its entire team. The hospital’s leadership, medical professionals, and support staff have consistently strived for excellence in healthcare delivery, ensuring patients receive the best possible care,” said an AMH spokesperson.
The landmark achievement marks a new chapter for KHAMH as it continues to provide world-class healthcare services.
The inauguration of KHAMH on January 26, 2023, was a landmark occasion attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
It coincided with the completion of 120 years of the hospital’s unwavering commitment to serving the country.
Despite being operational for only a short time, KHAMH has already become a medical hub, attracting patients not only from Bahrain but also from across the GCC.
Notably, the facility prioritises eco-friendliness, incorporating partial solar power to reduce its environmental impact. It also includes a 270-seat auditorium, underground parking for 500 cars, and a substantial staff accommodation building within the premises.
The hospital, designed by Leo A Daly, stands as a testament to its commitment to sustainability with about 14,000 sqm of greenery and themed gardens. This holistic approach aims to ensure that KHAMH meets the medical needs of the community in a sustainable and patient-centric manner.
At the forefront of technology for robotic surgery, home healthcare services and auto-guided vehicles (AGVs) allow seamless logistics within the hospital – a pioneering initiative in the GCC region.
KHAMH is also a key teaching hospital for the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) in Bahrain and has a strategic collaboration with Mayo Clinic in the US, enhancing the hospital’s global outreach and providing access to world-class expertise for patients.
