AN on-the-run gambling addict is facing trial in absentia for allegedly murdering a bookie and stealing his money after he lost all of his bets, a court heard, and then going on to launder the stolen loot.The Pakistani expatriate has been accused of planning the Indian man’s homicide and carrying it out in the victim’s apartment, first tying him up, assaulting him then eventually strangling him to death, the High Criminal Court heard yesterday .
