A study on sustainable homes in the kingdom, with focus on knowledge, preferences and practices among residents has revealed that while there is an openness to the concept, there is a critical implementation gap, despite ongoing national efforts to focus on sustainability in housing.
Bahrain University alumna Noora Al Tamimi’s paper entitled ‘Sustainable Homes in the Kingdom of Bahrain: Knowledge, Preferences and Practices’, conducted by interviewing 410 respondents, the majority of whom were Bahrainis, in the age group of 40 to 49 years, highlighted that most of the participants had ‘moderate’ knowledge of sustainable housing .
