An online service that allows Bahrainis to apply for travel permits in case their CPR cards are lost or damaged while travelling has been launched.
The initiative, driven by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the Information and eGovernment Authority, in co-operation with the Foreign Ministry, as per the instructions of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, aims to expedite applications from citizens and offer them high-quality services.
Bahrainis travelling to Gulf countries using their CPR cards instead of passports can avail of the new service in case their IDs get lost or damaged during the journey. The application can be made via the national e-government portal Bahrain.bh
The NPRA highlighted that the new service would facilitate citizens’ fast return to the kingdom. Applicants will receive an SMS directing them to the portal where they will be able to view, share or print their travel permits, which they can then present to the authorities upon their return to the country.
The NPRA added that the service allows users to apply for family members as well in case their identity cards are lost or damaged.
