Major agreements signed yesterday reflect a sincere desire to elevate relations and foster a strong partnership with Oman, His Majesty King Hamad said.
Bahrain and Oman signed 25 agreements, memoranda of understanding and executive programmes as part of His Majesty’s official visit.
During his two-day visit, His Majesty held talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq at Al Alam Palace in Muscat on deepening historic relations and discussed regional and international developments.
The wide-ranging agreements will consolidate co-ordination in vital sectors like trade, investment, taxation, health, food security, education and labour.
His Majesty yesterday also received members of the board of directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a delegation from the Bahrain Chamber.
He commended the role of the private sector and business leaders in both countries in boosting trade volumes through joint investment and economic projects.
The King also expressed hope that the meetings between the two sides would pave the way for new avenues of economic co-operation and the exchange of expertise and experiences, fostering mutual benefits.
He highlighted the advantages of Bahrain’s economy, including its strategic location and skilled human resources.
Boosting cultural ties, His Majesty visited the Royal Opera House in Muscat.
He was also briefed on the nature of performances hosted throughout the year and the state-of-the-art equipment utilised for world-class musical productions.
The King visited the main theatre and other sections of the Opera House and recognised its architectural sophistication, which combines Omani cultural heritage with architectural influences from across the globe.
Sultan Haitham hosted a luncheon in honour of His Majesty where he underscored the importance of the visit in bolstering co-operation. The two leaders underscored their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.
Later, His Majesty, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation, returned to Bahrain and was seen off by Sultan Haitham.
