His Majesty King Hamad issued a decree, appointing a general director at the Interior Ministry, based on a proposal of the minister and following the approval of the Cabinet.
Colonel Ahmed Al Rumaihi, director of the Cybercrime Directorate, shall be appointed as general director of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security, succeeding Major General Bassam Al Maraj.
His Majesty issued a second decree appointing Judge Shaikh Omar bin Duaij Al Khalifa assistant under-secretary for Islamic affairs at the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, succeeding Dr. Mohammed Al Qattan.
Another royal decree added a new Clause (3) to Paragraph (Fifth) of Article (I) of Decree (50) of 2023. The new clause shall read as, ‘3 – Licensing Directorate’. The remaining clauses shall be renumbered accordingly.
The King issued another decree restructuring the National Archive Centre. The centre will consist of a board of trustees, followed by a president overseeing two directorates – Documents and Archives Directorate and Research and Knowledge Services Directorate.
His Majesty also ratified and issued a law approving an agreement between Bahrain and Hungary on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments, following its endorsement by the Shura Council and Parliament. The agreement was signed in Manama on September 4, 2024.
The King ratified and issued another law approving an agreement to amend the framework agreement for financing the second phase of the project to improve water transmission and distribution from Al Dur station, following its approval by the Shura Council and Parliament. The agreement was signed on July 9, 2024.
He also ratified and issued the law approving Bahrain’s accession to the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties of 1969, following its endorsement by the Shura Council and Parliament. The accession was signed in Vienna on May 23, 1969, with a reservation stating that the kingdom shall not be bound by the provisions set out in Article (66) of the Convention.
Another law approving the agreement between Bahrain and the States of Guernsey on the elimination of double taxation concerning income taxes and the prevention of tax evasion and avoidance was ratified and issued. It also followed approval by the Shura Council and Parliament. The agreement was signed in Manama on September 29, 2024.
