Work on the new state-of-the-art St Christopher’s senior school campus on Riffa is ‘advancing at a rapid pace’, much ahead of schedule.
The construction progress was reviewed recently by the school’s board of governors and Principal Simon Watson, as they toured the new buildings and facilities set to open next year for Years 7 to 13.
“As Bahrain’s premier international school, we are proud to see our vision for a world-class educational facility becoming a reality,” said a school statement.
“Many of the key buildings and facilities are now clearly recognisable, offering a first glimpse of the outstanding environment that will soon support our students’ academic and personal growth.”
The official ground-breaking ceremony for the new senior school campus took place last year, marking a significant education milestone.
During the tour, Mr Watson highlighted the function of each building, from innovative learning spaces to state-of-the-art sporting and performing arts facilities, all designed to inspire excellence across every area of school life.
“The sense of excitement is truly building as the campus rises from the desert landscape, marking an important milestone for the future of St Christopher’s,” the statement added.
“We look forward to welcoming our first students to the new campus in 2026 and to continuing our legacy as Bahrain’s premier British-style International School.”
St Christopher’s first announced that it was planning to build a new senior school in 2011 with academic, drama, music and sporting facilities.
The ‘iconic campus’ would replace the existing Isa Town facility, initially accommodating 1,250 students and allowing for further expansion to take in up to 1,600.
Founded in 1961, St Christopher’s School is a leading British-style international school in the Middle East, recognised for its rich history of academic excellence and a caring community. It offers a diverse range of educational pathways, including A Levels, international baccalaureate (IB), and Business and Technology Education Council courses.
From its modest beginnings in a villa in 1961, St Christopher’s has grown into a large, internationally-renowned, non-profit school with more than 2,000 students from around 60 nations, aged from three to 18, in Saar and Isa Town campuses.
The school aims to offer a vibrant learning environment that nurtures creativity, curiosity and academic achievement.
