MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport had both their cars in the top 10 yesterday in the first paid test session ahead of round five in the 2025 British GT Championship.
The meeting is taking place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium – marking the only stop outside the UK in this British GT season.
The 2 Seas tandem of Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz in their #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo were seventh on yesterday’s test classification, which featured 22 cars. Their teammates Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss in 2 Seas’ #42 contender followed not far behind in 10th overall.
Both tandems are competing in the series’ GT3 class.
Tse and Goetz had a best lap time of two minutes 18.130 seconds, which was 1.478 seconds off the leading mark of Optimum Motorsport’s Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhofer. They posted a best lap of 2:16.652 in their McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Dawson and Jewiss had a top time of 2:18.865, which was 2.213s from the fastest mark.
Action continues today with free practice at 10am, to be followed by pre-qualifying at 1.05pm and then qualifying at 7.35pm. Tomorrow’s three-hour race is then scheduled to flag off at 1.30pm. All times are Bahrain.
Heading into Spa, 2 Seas are currently the leaders in the GT3 teams’ championship standings with 144 points. Barwell Motorsport are their closest challengers on 102 points.
Dawson and Jewiss are in first place in the GT3 drivers’ championship classification with 77 points apiece, just 10 ahead of Tse and Goetz.
Both 2 Seas crews have tasted victory already this campaign. Dawson and Jewiss took the GT3 triumph in the season-opener at Donington Park, and then teammates Tse and Goetz followed suit with their GT3 win in round four at Oulton Park.
2 Seas are competing this British GT campaign hoping to repeat their title-winning success in the GT3 teams’ championship from 2023. They enjoyed a solid campaign last year, which saw them claim two race wins and a pole position.
The 2025 calendar features nine rounds in all, to be held across six meetings. Following this weekend’s events, the championship heads back to the UK. Snetterton will host rounds six and seven from July 11 to 13, round eight will be at Brands Hatch on August 23 and 24, and then the ninth and final round will be again at Donington Park on October 4 and 5.
