FOOTBALL – SAUDI Arabia’s Al Ahli have signed French attacking midfielder Enzo Millot from Vfb Stuttgart, the clubs announced yesterday.
“Al Ahli Club Company has completed the signing of French international Enzo Millot from Stuttgart on a three-year deal,” the AFC Champions League Elite winners said on their website.
Neither club provided financial details, but local media said the Saudi Pro League club had paid 30 million euros ($34.92 million) for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Millot joined Stuttgart in 2021 and played 37 games in all competitions, scoring eight goals and as many assists last season. He netted twice in their 4-2 German Cup final win over Arminia Bielefeld in May.
Millot will serve under German head coach Matthias Jaissle at his new club. The 37-year-old former RB Salzburg coach noted that Millot’s German Bundesliga experience made him an ideal candidate for his team. Jaissle took the reins at Al Ahli two years ago after four years of working in the Red Bull system in Austria.
“We have been watching Enzo for some time and thoroughly did our homework thoroughly before making our decision,” Jaissle noted in a club statement. “He is technically gifted and has excellent tactical intelligence. The fact that he comes from the Bundesliga is also ideal for us. The league is so physical and fast-paced that he will be well prepared for what we expect from him next season.”
