MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport put in a sensational fight last night in the first three hours of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa 2025, taking place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
2 Seas have two cars in the event, one of which was in the lead early on in this third round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
The day-long race continued overnight and is scheduled to come to a close at 5.30pm this evening, Bahrain time.
2 Seas are running Verstappen.com Racing’s #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, driven by the trio of Harry King, Chris Lulham, and Thierry Vermeulen, and their #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, with the quartet of Charles Dawson, Kiern Jewiss, Parker Thompson, and Lewis Williamson sharing the piloting duties.
King, Lulham, and Vermeulen were in first place amongst the Gold Cup runners and were in 10th overall in the massive 75-car field with 21 gruelling hours still to go. King was in the car at the three-hour mark for his crew, who qualified second in class. They had clocked a best lap time of two minutes 19.206 seconds on lap 26.
Behind them in the Gold Cup were the #111 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO of CSA Racing, while AlManar Racing by WRT were third in their #777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Meanwhile, Dawson, Jewiss, Thompson, and Williamson were in the top 10 of the event’s Bronze Cup after three hours.
They had qualified 11th in their category and with Dawson in the cockpit, had gained one position in another strong outing for the team, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Their fastest lap after three hours was 2:20.586, which they set on lap eight.
Kessel Racing in their #74 Ferrari 296 GT3 were the top Bronze Cup runners, followed by Sainteloc Racing’s #25 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II and Ziggo Sport Tempesta’s #93 Ferrari 296 GT3 car.
Overall leaders at the three-hour mark were the Garage 59 #59 crew in their McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, who are competing in the Pro Cup. The other two classes in the race are the Silver Cup and the Pro-Am Cup.
The CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa features a grid that includes machinery from 10 of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, all of whom compete full-time in the GT World Challenge and have ambitions of claiming at least one of the five class wins.
This season’s calendar in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup features five rounds across Europe. Round one was held at Circuit Paul Ricard in France and then round two took place in Monza, Italy. Following this weekend’s meeting, the penultimate endurance meeting will then take place August 29 to 31 at the Nurburgring in Germany, and then the championship finale will be from October 10 to 12 in Barcelona, Spain.
