TENNIS – The Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) received two awards from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) in recognition of its achievements in player development and tournament organisation.
The BTF won the ITF Award for best federation in player development and tournament hosting and organisation, and the ATF Award for best federation in player development and tournament hosting and organisation in West Asia.
BTF president Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa received the awards from ITF vice-president Bulat Utemuratov and ATF president Yuriy Polsky during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the ATF annual general meeting in Kazakhstan.
Shaikh Abdulaziz said the awards reflect the progress of Bahraini tennis and the international recognition of the federation’s efforts to promote the sport.
He attributed the achievement to the support of His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Abdulaziz noted that the federation has consolidated its reputation by hosting major international tournaments and implementing programmes to develop local talent and expand participation in regional and global competitions.
