The Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry said it is taking all the necessary measures to preserve and protect public places and services such as public parks, walkways and open beaches through installing security cameras to detect any act of vandalism or misuse of facilities.
It told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej that it will take strong legal measures if any such act is detected. Recently, a number of video clips and images posted on social media accounts showed some public parks and walkways in a bad state of maintenance with litterbins overflowing with garbage.
Some people blamed the ministry for the lack of monitoring and control, while others blamed the public for a lack of hygiene culture and self-discipline.
