MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport showed impressive pace yesterday during the two test sessions ahead of this weekend’s sixth and seven rounds of the 2025 British GT Championship.
The double-header is taking place at Snetterton Circuit in the UK and 2 Seas are competing with their two Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars in the series’ GT3 class.
In yesterday’s first test, the pair of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss in their #42 contender ranked a strong fifth on the 22-car timesheet after clocking a best lap time of one minute 48.395 seconds. They were 0.556 seconds off the pace of leaders Barwell Motorsport in their #78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2.
2 Seas’ other tandem of Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz in their #18 challenger were classified seventh in the session with a fastest mark of 1:48.572.
Meanwhile, in the second test yesterday, Dawson and Jewiss were 10th overall with a quickest lap of 1:49.340. Team Parker Racing in their #66 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) were this time the pace-setters, going 1.656s ahead of 2 Seas’ leading pair.
Tse and Goetz followed in 12th with a 1:49.676 lap. 2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are back on the tarmac today for another three sessions. They will first run in an hour-long free practice before going for pre-qualifying, and then battle for pole position amongst the GT3 field starting at 5.45pm, Bahrain time.
That will set the grid for tomorrow’s two races, both of which will be an hour apiece. The first, the season’s sixth round, is scheduled for a 12.50pm start, followed round seven, at 5.05pm, both Bahrain time.
Each of the 2 Seas pairings have already tasted victory this campaign. Dawson and Jewiss took the GT3 triumph in the season-opener at Donington Park, and then Tse and Goetz followed suit with their GT3 win in round four at Oulton Park.
2 Seas head into the Snetterton double-header as the current leaders in the GT3 teams’ championship standings with 156 points. Barwell follow on 142.5 points while Optimum Motorsport are third on 90 points.
Dawson and Jewiss lead the GT3 drivers’ rankings with 89 points each but are just two ahead of their closest rivals. Tse and Goetz are presently fifth with 67 points apiece.
The 2025 calendar features nine rounds in all. Following this weekend’s events, round eight will be at Brands Hatch on August 23 and 24, and then the ninth and final round will again be at Donington on October 4 and 5.
