MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-BRITISH motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport secured a double pole yesterday for today’s sixth and seventh rounds in the 2025 British GT Championship.
The exciting double-header is taking place at Snetterton Circuit in the UK, and 2 Seas are competing with their two Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars in the series’ GT3 class.
The pair of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss in their #42 contender grabbed the leading grid position for round six after going fastest yesterday in the GT3’s first qualifying session.
Their teammates Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz in 2 Seas’ #18 challenger then took pole for round seven after topping the timesheet in GT3’s qualifying two.
“It’s been a tough couple of races for various reasons, so we’re just really happy to be back out in front, especially here in Snetterton where overtaking is really hard,” said Dawson yesterday after the opening qualifying run.
“We really needed to be in that front row for race one [of the weekend]. The Mercs are working so well in these hot conditions, and it all seems to click.”
Goetz also expressed his delight to be on pole for today’s second race. “It was a great lap – we have a great car and great teamwork,” he said after yesterday’s second qualifying. “Testing the last week has paid off for sure and the hard work we’ve had the last two days.
“It’s great to be on pole in such a difficult and nice track. It’s my second pole this year so it means we have a good package, and tomorrow it’s time to get some points and some trophies.
“We have a good base set now today. I think we have all the tools and good starting positions for tomorrow.”
2 Seas are co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa. They will be returning to action today for the season’s sixth round, scheduled for a 12.50pm start, while the seventh will flag off at 5.05pm. Both times are Bahrain.
Each event will be held over an hour’s duration.
In yesterday’s first qualifying, Dawson and Jewiss clocked a best lap time of one minute 47.765 seconds. Tse and Goetz qualified not far behind, claiming a row two position in third after going 0.585s off their teammates’ pace.
Classified between them were Blackthorn’s Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam in their #7 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. They were 0.151s behind Dawson and Jewiss.
In the second qualifying, Tse and Goetz registered a quickest lap of 1:45.282 to clinch pole. They were 0.157s faster than Optimum Motorsport’s Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhofer in their #77 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Dawson and Jewiss will be on row three after qualifying fifth, 0.563s from their leading teammates. They had their second lap time disallowed for exceeding track limits.
2 Seas head into today’s Snetterton double-header as the current leaders in the GT3 teams’ championship standings with 156 points. Barwell follow on 142.5 points while Optimum are third on 90 points.
Dawson and Jewiss lead the GT3 drivers’ rankings with 89 points each but are just two ahead of their closest rivals. Tse and Goetz are presently fifth with 67 points apiece.
