BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN has officially been awarded the hosting rights for the 26th edition of the Arab Men’s Basketball Championship, the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) announced yesterday.
This comes following the withdrawal as hosts of the Federation Tunisienne de Basketball, the BBA said in a statement. The event is scheduled to take place July 25 to August 2, with a series of top Arab basketball national teams taking part.
Bahrain’s staging of the prestigious competition, approved by the Arab Basketball Confederation (ABC), comes in line with the vision of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attract the most prominent sporting events to the kingdom.
This is in light of Bahrain’s distinguished sports infrastructure and reputation for organising events at the regional, continental, and international levels. The BBA expressed its pride in the confidence of the ABC in the kingdom, and stressed that it is committed to putting together a successful edition of the tournament.
