MOTORSPORT – CADILLAC Hertz Team Jota raced to a stunning one-two in the FIA WEC Six Hours of Sao Paulo, held at Interlagos Circuit in Brazil.
The meeting was the fifth round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and it kicked off the second half of the season, which culminates with the grand finale in Bahrain later this year.
Cadillac’s #12 crew of Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, and Will Stevens started from pole and powered to their first-ever overall win in the series after six hours of heated racing in their Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar.
Despite a tyre-pressure infringement penalty early in the race, the victors were able to pull away from the rest of the field.
Nato brought the car home at the chequered flag and finished 57.016 seconds ahead of their teammates Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais, and Jenson Button competing in the #38 Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar.
Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #5 crew of Julien Andlauer and Michael Christensen in their Porsche 963 Hypercar completed the overall podium. They finished 58.882 seconds from the victors but were just 1.866s adrift of the second Cadillac.
Completing the top eight amongst the Hypercars were Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #6 crew, BMW M Team WRT’s #20 contender, Peugeot Totalenergies’ #94 and #93 cars, and AF Corse’s #83 entrant.
Meanwhile, in the race’s LMGT3 category, Akkodis ASP Team took the win with their #87 Lexus RC F LMGT3 challenger, driven by Jose María Lopez, Clemens Schmid, and Petru Umbrarescu. The result earned Lexus their first-ever LMGT3 win in the FIA WEC.
TF Sport’s #81 trio of Tom Van Rompuy, Rui Andrade, and Charlie Eastwood came home second in their Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R, while in third were the #10 crew of Racing Spirit of Le Leman, featuring Eduardo Barrichello, Anthony Mcintosh, and Valentin Hasse-Clot, driving an Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3.
The 2025 WEC season features eight rounds in all. The series next heads to Austin, Texas, in the US for the Lone Star Le Mans on September 7. The Six Hours of Fuji in Japan follows on September 28, and then the championship holds its grand finale in the kingdom at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir with the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain on November 8.
