VOLLEYBALL – THE UAE and Kuwait were both victorious yesterday in their opening fifth-to-eighth classification matches in the first WAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship, currently being hosted by the kingdom.
The Emiratis battled past Lebanon 3-2 (25-22, 24-26, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12) at Isa Bin Rashid Volleyball Arena, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa, while Kuwait cruised past Jordan 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-18).
The UAE and Kuwait now face off at 3pm today to determine fifth place overall on the final classification, while Lebanon and Jordan battle for seventh position at 1pm.
Also today, the two semi-final contests will be held. At 5pm, Qatar will face off with Oman at 5pm, to be followed by Bahrain going up against Saudi Arabia at 7pm. They will set the stage for the gold and bronze medal games, to be held tomorrow. All are welcome to attend. Entry is free.
