A 38-year-old British man reportedly travelled to Istanbul, Türkiye, for a hair transplant at a clinic but mysteriously fell ill and died before the procedure could take place.
It was reportedly his second visit to the clinic, having previously undergone a first 'successful' operation.
According to OdaTV, the clinic released a statement shortly after the man's death, saying that the patient "unexpectedly became unwell for reasons that are still unknown" whilst he was being prepared for surgery, emphasising that he became ill "before the hair transplant procedure had begun."
The man was allegedly rushed to hospital but tragically died later that day.
Turkish health authorities have opened an investigation, and the man's body has been transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
According to the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council, over one million people travel annually to the country to undergo hair restoration treatments.
