Construction on a new railroad between the UAE and Oman has begun.
The Hafeet Rail is a joint venture between the two Gulf nations and the first cross-border railway network in the region.
The new railroad will connect to the current Etihad Rail network at Al Ain and extend to Sohar Port in Oman.
With 303 kilometres of track, the network is expected to drastically reduce travel times from Abu Dhabi to Sohar, via Al Ain, from the current three-and-a-half hours to just an hour and 40 minutes.
The rail network will connect through 12 passenger stations and cities across the two nations.
The Hafeet Rail company is still working on a timeline for the railroad's completion.
