BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S sports community is mourning the sudden passing of youth men’s basketball national team player Hussain Al Haiki.
Hussain passed away after collapsing during training with his local club on Monday night, according to a Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) official. Hussain was reportedly rushed to hospital by ambulance, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
“The BBA extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased and his friends,” the BBA said in a statement yesterday.
The BBA official said that Hussain was 15 years old. He was part of the kingdom’s youth men’s basketball national team that were crowned champions of the Fiba U16 Asia Cup Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) Qualifiers 2025, which was hosted by Bahrain last July.
