MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-BRITISH racing team 2 Seas Motorsport are set to hit the track this weekend with a double entry in the fourth and penultimate round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
The meeting is set to take place at the Nürburgring in Germany from today to Sunday.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, are competing in the series’ Gold category operating the #33 Verstappen.com Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, to be driven by the trio of Thierry Vermeulen, Chris Lulham, and Harry King.
2 Seas will also have their own contender in the Bronze class, where the triumvirate of Kiern Jewiss, Charles Dawson, and Ben Barnicoat will share the duties behind the wheel of their #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The two cars are part of a record 61-strong grid that will be lining up for the round’s gruelling, three-hour race, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, flagging off at 4pm, Bahrain time.
Prior to the race weekend’s main event, a bronze test will be held today starting at 5pm, while tomorrow will see free practice for the full field at 10.15am and then pre-qualifying at 3.25pm. Qualifying will then also be held on Sunday from 10am, just hours ahead of the race. All times are Bahrain.
Heading into this round, Verstappen.com Racing are currently in first place on the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup’s Gold teams’ standings with 91 points. They hold a 22-point gap from second-placed Team WRT who are on 69 points, while CSA Racing are third on 66.
In the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup’s Gold drivers’ rankings, Vermeulen, Lulham, and King share first place with 91 points. Arthur Rougier, Simon Gachet, and James Kell of CSA are joint-second on 66 points in their #111 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, while a further point behind are the trio of Jens Klingmann, Al Faisal Al Zubair, and Ben Tuck of AlManar Racing by WRT in their #777 BMW M4 GT3 Evo.
Meanwhile, Jewiss and Dawson are hoping to continue their fine form from the British GT Championship last weekend, where they triumphed in the season’s eighth and penultimate round to extend their leads in the series’ GT3 teams’ and GT3 drivers’ championship fights.
2 Seas are marking their second straight campaign in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Their debut last year added to their participation in the British GT, expanding their racing schedule for 2024. 2 Seas competed last year with a driver line-up that included Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa, Lewis Williamson, and Martin Kodric.
This season’s calendar in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup features five rounds across Europe. The opening three events took place in France, Italy, and Belgium, while following Germany will be the championship finale in Barcelona, Spain, scheduled for October 10 to 12.
