MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport had mixed results yesterday as they continued to gear up for today’s race day in round four of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, have two cars competing in the meeting, being held at the Nürburgring in Germany.
2 Seas are operating the #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo of Verstappen.com Racing, driven by the trio of Thierry Vermeulen, Chris Lulham, and Harry King.
They also have their own #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, featuring Charles Dawson, Tom Lebbon, and Ben Barnicoat behind the wheel.
The #33 crew are racing in the series’ Gold Cup, in which they were classified ninth in yesterday’s pre-qualifying session – which was cut short after being red-flagged – with a best lap time of one minute 55.834 seconds.
Al Manar Racing by WRT, featuring Jens Klingmann, Ben Tuck, and Al Faisal Al Zubair behind the wheel of their #777 BMW M4 GT3 Evo, were the leaders in class with a top mark of 1:55.189.
Earlier in the day yesterday, the Verstappen.com Racing trio were third in class in free practice, where they had a fastest time of 1:55.730.
They were not far behind Gold Cup and overall pace-setters Tim Heinemann, Rolf Ineichen, and Joel Strum of Herberth Motorsport, competing in their #92 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). They had a mark of 1:55.249.
Meanwhile, 2 Seas’ #222 contenders were sixth in the Bronze Cup for pre-qualifying, going for a quickest lap of 1:56.150 in their runs.
Sainteloc Racing’s Benjamin Ricci, Paul Evrard, and Gilles Magnus in their #25 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II were fastest in class with a best lap of 1:55.720 in the session.
In free practice, 2 Seas were classified third amongst Bronze competitors after clocking a fastest time of 1:56.022.
Paradine Competition’s Dan Harper, Sean Gelael, and Darren Leung in their #991 BMW M4 GT3 Evo led all runners in class with a lap of 1:55.581.
2 Seas’ two cars are part of a record 61-strong grid that will be lining up for today’s gruelling, three-hour race at 4pm, Bahrain time. Prior to the race weekend’s main event, qualifying will be held at 10am, also Bahrain time, to determine the starting positions.
Heading into this round, Verstappen.com Racing are currently in first place on the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup’s Gold teams’ standings with 91 points, while Vermeulen, Lulham, and King lead the drivers’ rankings, also on 91 points apiece.
