TABLE TENNIS – Bahrain Club were last night crowned champions of the 36th Arab Table Tennis Clubs Championship, which came to a close in Muscat, Oman.
Bahrain Club secured the title for the first time in the competition’s history after defeating Egypt’s Enppi Club 3-1 in the final.
In the tournament’s earlier stages, Bahrain Club beat Kuwait’s Yarmouk 3-0 in the last 16, and then defeated Qatar SC of Qatar 3-2 in the quarter-finals.
They then punched their ticket to the gold medal contest with a 3-1 triumph over Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals.
Following their victory yesterday, Bahrain Olympic Committee board member and Bahrain Table Tennis Association president Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the kingdom’s sporting leadership for the historic victory.
