BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S Seef are set to compete in the Manila Challenger 2025 in the Philippines today, part of this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
The two-day tournament also acts as a qualifying event for the Macau Masters – a higher-tier competition of the Fiba 3x3 World Tour scheduled for October 18 and 19.
Seef are competing in the Philippine capital with a quartet of Bahrainis Sayed Mohammed Hameed, Hasan Fahad, and Alwatheq Ali, along with Serbian Bogdan Dragovic. They are coached by Bahraini tactician Murtadha Mohammed.
Seef are part of a 12-team field in the competition’s preliminary round. They are in Pool A, along with Ub from Serbia and home squad Mandaluyong SBP.
Pool B is composed of Chongming from China, Lugano from Switzerland, and Manila Melmac from the Philippines. Pool C comprises Utrecht from the Netherlands and two sides from the qualifying draw; while Pool D features Hangzhou from China, Skyliners from Germany, and another squad from qualification, which features six teams.
In qualifying draw A are Taipei WanBao from Taipei, Singapore from Singapore, and Cavite from the Philippines; while in qualifying draw B are Shanghai from China, SG Marina Bay Jumpshot from Singapore, and East Jakarta from Indonesia.
Seef are scheduled to get their campaign underway against Ub today at 11.55am, before they take on Mandaluyong SBP at 1.45pm. Both times are Bahrain.
The competition’s quarter-finals are scheduled to be held tomorrow, to be followed by the semis and final later in the day.
The champions in Manila are set to come away with $20,000 in prize money. The runners-up will pocket $15,000, the third-placers $11,000, while the team ranked fourth overall will win $8,000 and fifth $6,000.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour is the premier street basketball series under the International Basketball Federation (Fiba), which holds events around the world with participating teams representing cities. It will be making a stop in Bahrain for the 2025 season finale on November 21 and 22.
