In line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to launch this year’s National Tree Week, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa planted a tree at the Special Security Force Command headquarters in Safreh, accompanied by Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa.
The initiative supports the National Afforestation Plan, which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, in line with Bahrain’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
The minister emphasised the importance of protecting the environment and increasing public awareness of tree planting, as part of Bahrain’s commitment to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
He noted the ministry’s efforts to expand green spaces at its facilities, support environmental initiatives, and strengthen social responsibility.
He added that the ministry continues to promote volunteer work and co-operation with relevant entities, while implementing initiatives that encourage eco-friendly practices and greater environmental awareness in the community.
