The WWE announced its plans to revive its "Invasion" show on October 7, angering many in Israel.
"Invasion" is a WWE event that first ran in 2001 and depicted a clash between the WWE (known as WWF at the time) and WCW, after the successful purchase of the competitor brand, as well as ECW.
The storyline and event were a major success and lives on in wrestling circles as one of the greatest storylines ever run by the company.
The name "Invasion" was dropped the following year for "Vengeance", which continued until 2007 and then revived in 2021 in NXT. WWE recently announced the revival of "Invasion" for a new clash between WWE NXT wrestlers and TNA wrestlers.
However, the revival was not received well in Israel, as the show was announced for October 7, 2025. Israeli publications such as Israel Hayom called the decision preposterous and reached out to the WWE to complain.
Sky News Arabia reported that Israeli officials expressed concern over the event, believing the title is poorly chosen.
