CYCLING – His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has directed the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) to make optimal preparations for the fifth edition of Nasser in Hamad Cycling Tour for Amateurs, which will be held from November 5 to 8, in co-operation with Faalyat.
Shaikh Nasser underlined that the event aims to make sport a way of life in Bahraini society, with a significant positive impact on public health and quality of life, and contributes to enhancing youth participation in competitive sports activities.
Shaikh Nasser explained that the tour is an important element in promoting a cycling culture and plays a prominent role in showcasing the kingdom’s tourist attractions, especially as it passes through a number of Bahrain’s governorates.
Shaikh Nasser added that it also encourages amateurs – from citizens, GCC nationals, and residents – to practise sport and discover new talents.
Shaikh Nasser stated that the previous four editions of the tour achieved remarkable success in terms of participation and open competition amongst all participants.
He noted the importance of joint efforts amongst the various parties to ensure the success of the tour.
The fifth edition will include several categories for participants, including Bahraini cyclists, residents from various countries in the kingdom, and cyclists from GCC countries, thereby contributing to strengthening fraternity and sporting co-operation.
