A 14-year-old boy was arrested in Iraq after it was discovered that he allegedly ran several networks that lured children and other teenagers into self-harm and suicide through the popular online gaming platform Roblox.
The teenager would lure victims from several Arab countries by initiating a series of “challenges” that ranged from self-inflicted injuries to acts of cruelty towards animals before pressuring them to commit suicide, according to Iraqi authorities. He would prey on vulnerable young players using psychological manipulation methods.
According to reports, the boy has been linked to the suicides of 30 children.
Roblox has been under a lot of fire lately, being banned from several countries in the Gulf region, after many scandals regarding child safety online surfaced.
