BAHRAIN Olympic Committee (BOC) vice president Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa received Michael Lenard, acting president of the International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS), along with the accompanying delegation including Matthieu Reeb, director general of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and Dr Abdullah Al Hayyan, board member of the CAS, during their visit to Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by BOC secretary general Faris Al Kooheji and Professor Marike Paulsson, secretary general for the Council for International Dispute Resolution of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Shaikh Isa conveyed greetings from Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and commended the constructive cooperation between the BOC and ICAS and the council’s role in supporting sports governance and upholding justice and integrity within the Olympic and sports movement worldwide.
Shaikh Isa emphasised the importance of enhancing legal and sports partnerships to develop the sports work environment and ensure the rights of athletes and sports institutions in accordance with the highest international standards.
He expressed appreciation for ICAS’s efforts in promoting justice and transparency in global sports, underlining that the council’s role in resolving sports disputes is key to protecting the sports system and ensuring its smooth operation in line with best international practices, wishing it continued progress and success.
