HORSERACING – DEVASTE triumphed for Al Mohamediya Racing last night to lift the Grand Seiko-Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup, held as part of the eight-race card headlined by the Bahrain International Trophy at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir.
Devaste took first place in the day’s second-richest race for trainer Osama Hashim, while ridden by Soufiane Saadi. They took the lion’s share of the $40,000 total prize that was up for grabs in the 1,000m event.
Elsewhere last night, Royal Scimitar won the Economic Development Board Cup competing for Mohamediya and trainer Mohamed Hasan, with Saadi once again in the saddle; Tawaareq claimed the Bapco Energies Cup for Victorious Forever, Fawzi Nass, and Stephane Ladjadj; while Midhaal lifted the Lexus Cup for Shaikh Isa bin Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Abdulla Kuwaiti, and Dylan Browne McMonagle. All three events offered $30,000 in winnings.
Across the rest of the card, Burdett won the $16,000 Beyon Cup for Al Afoo Racing, Ali Jan, and Ebrahim Nader; California took the $16,000 Crown Advisory Cup for Abdulla Sami Nass, Fawzi Nass, and Alberto Sanna; and Kuheilan Weld Umm Zorayr 1959 won the $14,000 Gulf Air Cup for Victorious Forever, Yousif Taher, and Abdulrahim Jasim.
