CRICKET – BCF Emerging Select 11 etched their name on the Emerging Cup T20 2025 trophy, defeating a valiant Naqi Cricket Club Saudi by three wickets in a match that will be remembered for its explosive batting and nerve-wracking finish.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Naqi were propelled by a top-order blitz. Opener Noman Butt laid a solid foundation with a powerful 55 off just 30 balls, but it was Adnan Nisar who provided the real fireworks.
In a breathtaking display of hitting, Nisar smashed 32 runs from a mere 14 deliveries, an innings punctuated by six boundaries and a six.
However, the innings lost momentum in the middle overs as the BCF bowlers fought back gallantly. Asif Nana was the chief destroyer, claiming three crucial wickets for 34 runs, while Asif Javed Bashir Ahmad chipped in with two, restricting Naqi to a competitive, but seemingly par, total of 182 all out.
The chase began in spectacular fashion for BCF. All-rounder Naveen Balakrishna Shetty turned the game on its head with a devastating assault, blasting 47 runs off just 23 balls.
His innings, featuring eight fours and two sixes, provided the explosive start necessary to chase down the daunting target, putting his team firmly in the driver’s seat, earning him the well-deserved Player of the Match award.
Despite regular wickets falling at the other end, the chase was anchored by a calm and composed Yasser Nazeer, who remained unbeaten on a vital 39 from 24 balls. The tension reached fever pitch in the final over, but Nazeer held his nerve, guiding his team across the finish line with zero balls to spare, sparking wild celebrations among the BCF players and supporters.
The victory marked a triumphant end to the Emerging Cup T20 2025 for BCF, who held their composure under extreme pressure to clinch the championship.
