Actresses Hema Malini and Esha Deol, wife and daughter of veteran Indian actor Dharmendra, have confirmed that he is stable and recovering, dismissing rumours of his passing.
Speculation about the 89-year-old actor’s death spread rapidly on social media on Tuesday morning, with condolence messages pouring in from fans.
Some media reports appeared to confirm the news, and even a senior government official tweeted a message of sympathy, further fuelling the rumours.
Dharmendra was reportedly admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 1 due to breathing-related issues.
In an Instagram statement, daughter Esha Deol clarified that her father is stable and recovering, calling the death reports false.
She wrote that the “media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news,” requested privacy for the family, and thanked everyone for their prayers.
Veteran actress Hema Malini also expressed her disapproval of the false reports on social media, stating, “What is happening is unforgivable!
How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible.”
The family thanked fans for their well-wishes and urged everyone to continue praying for Dharmendra’s good health.
