Nearly 1.4 tonnes of illicit substances, including narcotics and psychotropic drugs valued at approximately BD7 million, were confiscated by authorities between mid-2023 and the end of 2024.
This was revealed by Criminal Enforcement Prosecution chief Mohammed Al Musallam, who confirmed that the items were seized under final and binding court judgments.
The committee recently inspected the site where the confiscated items were stored and carried out a legal review to verify their accuracy and weights.
The seized items were incinerated in furnaces operating at temperatures of up to 1,100C, the statement added.
