The Lower Criminal Court has sentenced a female restaurant owner to three years in jail and fined her BD7,200 for using expired food products, violating approved technical regulations, neglecting sanitation and maintenance, displaying products of unknown origin, engaging in activities not listed on the health registration certificate, and operating without the required licences from the competent authorities.
The court also ordered the confiscation of the seized unlawful items.
The Public Prosecution launched an immediate investigation into the case after receiving a tipoff from one of the workers at the restaurant about the violations putting the customers’ health at risk.
After gathering the needed evidence confirming the accusations, the Public Prosecution referred the case to the competent court, which issued its aforementioned ruling.
