SHOWJUMPING – MINISTRY of Interior (MOI) showjumping team rider Hussain Dadalla was the star amongst stars in the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) Showjumping Championship, held over the weekend at the Al Raffa field at the Military Sports Association premises.
Dadalla won three categories in the meeting, headlined by taking first place with his horse Al Haddar in the grand prix competition.
Dadalla took first place in the event, which featured fences of 140cm to 145cm in height, with the best time of 70.59 seconds. In second place was MOI teammate Mayoof Al Romaihi riding Calvados Des Vergers Z, who had a time of 68.89s and eight faults, while in third and fourth place was Bahrain Defence Force team rider Mohammed Saif. He claimed third on his horse Ghalli with a time of 69.62s and eight faults, and then was fourth on his other horse Qayed with a time of 70.60s and 12 faults.
Dadalla was also the winner in the level one general competition, riding his horse Golden Eyes. He took the event with fences 105cm to 115cm high with the best time of 36.03s, leaving second place to Sayed Mohammed Khalaf with his horse Candy and a time of 40.42s. In third was Sven Joseph Hadley, also from the MOI team, and his horse Adionas, finishing in 40.51s.
In the points competition with a Joker and fences 130cm to 135cm high, Dadalla led an all-MOI team podium. He took first place with his horse Milton in 41.20s and 44 points, while Sultan Al Romaihi claimed second with horse Estoril Un Prince in 43.98s and 44 points. Third went to Mahmood Abdulqader with his horse Ziva in 45.34s and 44 points, while Mayoof Al Romaihi came fourth with Calvados Des Vergers Z at 46.05s and 44 points.
Hadley was then the winner in the level two competition for advanced riders, with fences 120cm to 125cm. Riding Adionas, Hadley won in 56.81s, finishing ahead of Dadalla and Golden Eyes, who posted a time of 53.85s and four faults. Third place was secured by Sultan Al Romaihi riding Estoril Un Prince with a time of 54.99s, while Mayoof Al Romaihi was fourth on Aqqab in 59.47s and four faults.
Meanwhile, Hanan Basel Al Mahmeed with her horse Quantin won the junior level one category. She finished the two-phase competition with fences 95cm to 105cm in height in a time of 38.74s.
Pearl Carter on Ra’ad was second in 40.06s, while third was Ali Hussain on Luna PKZ in 40.06s and four faults. Hanan also placed fourth, this time riding her other horse Lulu, in 40.49s and four faults.
Pearl triumphed in junior level two category, featuring fences 105cm to 115cm high. Pearl and Ra’ad took first place in the two-phase event with a time of 48.24s. Ali came second with Jessinain 55.78s, while Mohammed Al Asfoor on Emtiyaz was third in 42.00s but with four faults. Hussain Al Asfoor came fourth on his horse Jalopit with a time of 50.04s and four faults.
After the competitions, Breef showjumping committee member Huda Janahi awarded the winning riders their prizes.
Janahi lauded the outstanding technical levels demonstrated by the competitors on the field and commended their efforts and those of their stables to achieve the best results.
Janahi also praised the organising committee for achieving all the factors of success. She appreciated the great support provided by Breef president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, which contributes to the advancement of showjumping, and the support of Breef showjumping committee chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and all its members, wishing everyone further success in upcoming events.
