Dublin: Abdulla Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates and Chairman of Investopia, held two bilateral meetings with Darragh O’Brien, Minister for Climate, Environment, Energy and Transport of the Republic of Ireland, and Paul Keeley, Director of Regional Development at Ireland’s National Tourism Development Authority. The meetings discussed means to enhance economic and tourism cooperation and explore partnership opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of the Investopia–Dublin Dialogues. The event brought together senior officials, business leaders and investors from the UAE and Ireland. It was attended by Mohammed Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the UAE to Ireland, and Mohammed Al Hawi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Investment of the UAE, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
Al Marri said that the UAE follows an open economic policy based on advancing cooperation with international partners. He noted that the two meetings contributed to deepening economic and tourism coordination and expanding cooperation between government entities and the business communities in both countries. He added that this supports the growth of joint investments and enhances air connectivity and tourism exchange.
During the meeting with the Irish Minister for Climate, Environment, Energy and Transport, opportunities were discussed to strengthen cooperation in sustainable energy, infrastructure and transport. The discussions also covered the exchange of expertise in the circular economy and policies that support accelerating the transition to a green economy, in line with the sustainability objectives of both countries.
In his meeting with the Director of Regional Development at Ireland’s National Tourism Development Authority, the two sides discussed means to enhance tourism cooperation. They also exchanged expertise in destination development and regional tourism growth. This included planning tourism routes, building tourism brands for sustainable local destinations, and promoting them mutually in support of the tourism targets of both countries.
