Experts from Bahrain and across the GCC will convene in Manama in the coming weeks for a major conference focused on addressing the latest challenges and advancements in diagnosing and treating lung diseases.
The first Bahrain Thoracic Conference 2026 will be held on January 8 and 9 at the Bahrain Convention Centre, Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Organised by the respiratory unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex and Governmental Hospitals, the conference aims to share the latest updates on preventing, diagnosing, and treating lung diseases. It also aims to establish an environment to promote the most recent developments in the field of thoracic and pulmonary ailments.
“This conference marks an important milestone for thoracic medicine in Bahrain and the region,” said conference chairman Dr Muneer Mahdi.
“It provides a unique platform for clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals to come together, exchange knowledge and explore the latest advances shaping our specialty. The conference is designed to foster collaboration, inspire new ideas, and address both current challenges and future directions in thoracic care.”
According to the agenda posted on the website, the forum will open with a session titled, ‘Breathing Matters: Airway Disease’, followed by a talk on ‘The Pressure Within: Pulmonary Vascular Disease’. The second day will focus on ‘Chronic Cough in Children’ and ‘Interstitial Lung Disease.’
