Eight people were killed in an explosion at a mosque in the Syrian city of Homs yesterday, Syrian state news agency SANA said.
Saraya Ansar Al Sunnah said on its Telegram channels that it carried out the attack. SANA cited Syrian Health Ministry official Najib Al Naasan as saying 18 others were wounded and that the figures were not final, indicating they could rise.
Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the blatant terrorist attack. The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, expressed Bahrain’s solidarity with Syria and support for its security and stability in confronting terrorism and extremism.
The ministry reiterated the kingdom’s absolute rejection of the targeting of places of worship and the terrorisation of innocent civilians, emphasising that such acts constitute grave crimes that violate all religious and humanitarian principles.
The ministry extended the kingdom’s sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Syria.
