Passengers departing Bahrain or transiting through the kingdom will soon be required to pay BD2 civil aviation fee, under a ministerial decision issued by Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The decision (No 18 of 2025) has been published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette.
Under the amendment, a new item has been added to the schedule, introducing a Passenger Name Record (PNR) Registration Fee of BD2 per passenger. The fee earlier was BD1 for transit passengers.
The BD2 fee will now apply to all passengers departing the kingdom as well as those transiting through Bahrain International Airport.
The measure is based on a proposal submitted by the Under-Secretary for Civil Aviation Affairs and approved by the Cabinet.
However, travellers will not see the new charge immediately as the regulation will come into effect 120 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, allowing airlines, airports, and booking systems time to prepare for the change.
