Dubai’s Civil Court has directed an Arab man to pay AED40,000 (BD4,000) in compensation to his colleague for causing psychological and reputational harm through verbal abuse.
The dispute began as a personal disagreement between the two colleagues, which escalated into abusive and threatening messages on WhatsApp. The victim filed a complaint, prompting an official investigation.
The Dubai Misdemeanour Court found the defendant guilty of insulting and threatening the complainant. He was fined AED5,000 (BD500), his device was confiscated, and he was ordered to delete the offensive messages.
The case was then referred to the Civil Court for compensation.
