Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam and Shura Council chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh commended the constructive co-operation and effective co-ordination between the legislative and executive authorities, as well as their shared commitment to agreement and the advancement of the public interest of the kingdom and its citizens.
They noted that this approach reflects the visions of His Majesty King Hamad, which places the Bahraini citizen at the core of comprehensive development.
They also commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue enhancing government services provided to citizens in accordance with the Government Plan and the understandings reached between the two authorities, underscoring the importance of financial sustainability in serving citizens’ interests.
Mr Al Musallam underscored the continuation of joint co-operation in the best interests of the kingdom and its citizens, the enactment of the necessary legislation to strengthen Bahrain’s financial position while safeguarding citizens’ entitlements, and the sustained legislative and oversight role in protecting public funds and enhancing spending efficiency in accordance with the applicable constitutional and legal frameworks.
The Shura Chairman underlined the Council’s support for the Cabinet’s initiatives to reform public finances and ensure continued support for citizens. He emphasised that the Council will continue its legislative role in enhancing these national efforts, promoting financial sustainability, and preserving Bahrain’s developmental achievements.
Mr Al Saleh highlighted that the Cabinet’s decision not to change electricity and water tariffs for the first and second tiers in citizens’ primary residences, and to postpone changes to support mechanisms for further study, shows a balanced approach that safeguards citizens’ living stability.
He noted that this aligns with His Majesty King Hamad’s vision and the government’s focus on improving quality of life and upholding social justice. He added that the reforms reflect constructive co-operation between the legislative and executive branches and demonstrate the commitment of His Majesty King Hamad in protecting citizens’ interests and easing their living costs.
