The Shura Council paid tribute to the National Guard, praising its vital role in safeguarding the kingdom’s security and stability as the country marks the 29th anniversary of the force’s establishment on Wednesday.
In a statement read by Shura Council Secretary-General Karima Al Abbasi, the council congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister.
The statement also highlighted the contributions of National Guard personnel under the leadership of Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The Shura Council commended the qualitative development witnessed by the National Guard in recent years, particularly in terms of administrative and military readiness. It said this continued progress reflects the wise leadership’s commitment to strengthening the Guard’s capabilities and providing it with the necessary support to remain a strong shield protecting the nation and ensuring its security and stability.
The National Guard was established in 1997 and has since evolved into a key component of Bahrain’s integrated security and defence framework, playing an essential role in supporting national stability and responding to emerging challenges.
“The annual anniversary on January 7 stands as a moment of national recognition for the sacrifices and service of the men and women of the National Guard, whose dedication continues to underpin Bahrain’s security and peace,” said Ms Al Abbasi.
She was deputised to read out the statement at the start of the session by Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
