Bahrain Chamber’s 31st board of directors will be elected on March 28, with the polling venue to be announced later, the elections committee has announced during its first meeting yesterday at Bait Al Tijjar.
The committee pledged full commitment to ensuring the highest standards of neutrality, fairness and transparency in running the electoral process.
Committee chairman Abbas Abdulmohsen Radhi affirmed the committee’s keenness to provide all necessary requirements to ensure the smooth conduct, integrity and transparency of the upcoming chamber elections.
This will be achieved through strict adherence to the provisions of the Chamber Law and its executive bill, ensuring that those who gain the confidence of voters are elected through the enforcement of the law with complete independence, neutrality and professionalism, he said.
The committee reviewed the initial draft of the voters’ register in accordance with Article (49) of the executive bill of the Chamber Law. The register includes the information specified in Article (50), which corresponds with the records of the Industry and Commerce Ministry, namely the member’s name, membership number, type of business, commercial address and the number of votes to which the member is entitled in the ballot based on the issued capital recorded in the chamber’s records.
The panel decided to form a committee to audit the voters’ register to ensure the accuracy of the information contained therein and its consistency with the official commercial register of the ministry.
March 28 was set as a date for the elections as it coincides with the board’s first meeting in 2022. According to the election law, the nomination date must occur one month before, which falls on February 28.
